Lanka is one of the revenue town of Naguon district in Assam. The town has an area of 9.125 sqkm. The population of town as per census 2001 is  34423 where the slum population is 17900. The economic source  of Lanka town is based upon tertiary sector which includes trade, commerce , transportation as well as government jobs. Lanka is basically a center of trade, commerce and education. The workforce participation ratio of Lanka town is 29%. The most apparent problem associates with the transportation network of the town are lack of adequate drainage along the roads.

Slum Profile- Lanka:

The slum scenario of the Lanka is really challenging where 52% of the population live in the slum area. The geographic condition of the town is such that mostly all the slum area is affected as water lodging area. The existing slum is divided into 11 nos in ten numbers of wards. After the slum analysis, we sent a proposal to the Lanka Town Committee for the establishment of 127 dwelling units and the infrastructural up gradation of the existing one.
