North Lakhimpur town is the Headquarter of District Lakhimpur in the state of Assam. The town is situated in the North Eastern Part of Assam which is adjutant to the Foot Hills of Arunachal Pradesh. North Lakhimpur town is the high concentration of urban poor with 38.46% of the total population residing in slums. The town area is 203.0708 Hectare as actual present survey. The population of town is 54285 in 2001 where the slum population is 20880. 38.46% of the slum population lives in the slum area. The area is prosperous in Agriculture sector especially in Tea, Wild forest product etc.

North Lakhimpur- Slum Profile:

The slum scenario of the North Lakhimpur is really challenging where 36% of the population live in the slum area. The geographic condition of the town is such that mostly all the slum area are affected in floods. The existing slum is divided into 11 nos in ten numbers of ward. Details are as:

Along with the slum development exercise, we submitted a financial resource allocation proposal to the North Lakhimpur Municipal Board for 99 new dwelling units as well as the infrastructure capacity building of the existing ones
